What We Do

Estate Planning Services Across the ACT & NSW

Protecting what matters most — comprehensive estate planning and administration services for individuals and families at every stage of life.

Will Drafting, Reviews & Updates

A properly drafted will gives you certainty that your assets pass to the people you choose. We draft new wills, review existing ones, and update them when life changes.

Powers of Attorney & Enduring Guardianship

Who will make financial and personal decisions if you can't? We prepare general and enduring powers of attorney and enduring guardianship appointments that protect you.

Estate Planning & Asset Protection Strategies

From testamentary trusts to superannuation death benefits and business succession, we design estate plans that minimise tax exposure and stand up to challenges.

Probate & Estate Administration

Acting as executor is a significant responsibility. We obtain grants of probate, manage estate administration, and keep beneficiaries informed and on side throughout.

Contested Estates & Family Provision Claims

Whether you've been left out of a will or you're an executor facing a claim, we provide clear advice and strong representation within the strict time limits that apply.

Intestate Estates

When a loved one dies without a will, the statutory intestacy rules apply. We guide families through the process and applications to the Supreme Court.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wills & Estates Questions, Answered

What happens if I die without a will in the ACT or NSW?

If you die without a valid will, you die 'intestate' and a statutory formula decides who receives your estate. That formula may not match your intentions, can be slower and more expensive to administer, and in some circumstances leaves assets to people you would not have chosen. A properly drafted will gives you certainty and your family clarity.

How often should I update my will?

Review your will whenever your circumstances change significantly, such as marriage or separation, buying property, having children, starting or selling a business, or the death of a beneficiary or executor. A review every few years is a good habit, and it costs far less than the disputes an outdated will can cause.

What is probate and do we need it?

Probate is the Supreme Court's official recognition that a will is valid and that the executor has authority to deal with the estate. Whether it is needed depends on the assets involved, but banks and other institutions commonly require it before releasing funds. We can advise you and manage the application from start to finish.

Can a will be contested?

Yes. Eligible people, usually spouses, former spouses, children, and some dependants, can apply to the court for family provision from an estate. Strict time limits apply, so whether you are considering a claim or an executor facing one, seek advice promptly.
